3D Renovation for Tobacco Warehouse

This is my first professional project and I have begun to work in 3D since then. It is a renovation project on a Tobacco Warehouse which later will be renovated to be part of I.S.C.I.D. (Institut Supérieur de Commerce International de Dunkerque) at Dunkerque in France. The 3D warehouse is modelled by AutoCAD and rendered by 3ds Max. I participated in this project in an architecture agency during my traineeship for my Master in Civil Engineering in 2007. This agency specialises in renovation design for public and commercial buildings.

With my background of civil engineering, I worked with a team of architects. It was an amazing experience to learn and combine the ideas of architectural design and the organising of civil construction. This 3D warehouse was modelled according to the dimensions from 2D plans, reference pictures and counsel from architects. The model presents with several colours to identify different subjects. It provides a more flexible and intuitional virtual space to figure out potential collision and rational position between the existing structure and structure design.

Although I have studied and worked in the digital reconstruction field for 3 years, I still consider it a wonderful concept to present an evolution of the warehouse in 3D visualisation. Furthermore, we can apply laser scanner instead of measure and model from 2D plans, in order to completely acquire the 3D information from existing construction. With application of laser scan, the progress of 3D modeling can be quickened and precisely executed.
